SEPT NAME – MACJAMES

by James E. Fargo, FSA Scot

The lands of Calvine were part of the Faskally estate, their coming into the possession of James Robertson (fourth and youngest son of Alexander, the 5th chief), by his having acquired the lands from the Robertsons of Faskally. This James is the ancestor of the Robertsons of Auchleeks, Calvine, Blairfetty and Trinafour.

Alexander McJames was an assize member in Grandtully in 1529. Some of the other descendants of this family are known to have changed their name to MacJames after the ’45 Rising.
